There are a few outdoor restaurants operating on this small but picturesque lake on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. This one stands out for its clean design and natural setting.

Leisure Lake's outdoor picnic area occupies a narrow strip of trees and grass that skirts the lake's eastern shore. A wooden boardwalk runs the length of the property and connects the small tastefully designed picnic huts.

The huts come in two flavors: a row of traditional thatched-roof bamboo huts set against the treeline, and white metal-framed shelters with stylish folded canopies built on platforms over the lake's shallows.

The huts are big enough for the entire family, and come with a small table, cushions and a fan. Food can be ordered off the menu and delivered to the huts.

The main activity here is relaxation. But there are also a few things for families to do here, like piling into an ornate gold sampan and hiring an oarsman to scull the boat around the shallow lake. You can also fish here for free.

Leisure Lake can be difficult to reach after heavy rain when the final stretch of unmarked dirt road turns to mud. Bring bug repellent for flies during the day and mosquitoes at night.
