About
Koki Beach was originally a name given to a sandy beach and popular swimming hole on the Mekong river, but somehow came to encompass a cluster of floating restaurants on the shore of an oxbow lake near Kien Svay.
The thatched-roof bamboo huts, some on pontoons and others high above the water on stilts, make an excellent spot for a catered picnic and to lounge on a hot afternoon. Whichever style you choose, you will pay a fee to occupy a family-sized space, which usually includes hammocks, pillows and a reed floor mat for spreading out food.
It's expected that you will order from the restaurant, but it is usually okay to bring a few picnic items yourself or order small items from the vendors who pull up to the pontoon huts in their boats.
The lake is quite picturesque, with water hyacinth lining its shores and local fishermen and fruit vendors paddling by. It's possible to rent boats here, and some come with fishing equipment.
To reach Koki Beach, turn south after crossing the Koah Prak bridge. A series of signs advertise restaurants on the right.
